Partner and helpmate to my husband of 53 years, mother of two grown children, and grandmother of two precious young grandsons, I am truly blessed. I began to write poetry, short stories and flash fiction not long after I retired from teaching. Like peeling away the layers of an onion to reveal what at first cannot be seen, I don't always know where my writing journey will take me. There are times that make me pause and say, “where did that come from?" My writing can be mellow, like sharing a good bottle of wine with a friend or laser focused when my character confronts a sudden but inevitable moment. I can set the mood for caution and slow observations, ignite a fire in your heart or expose the hilarity of what it means to be human. My writing can be fun and playful, and my characters can be caught in outrageous circumstances, or serious and cautious when confronted with a situation that is unknowable. I like that. And I hope you experience it all when you discover those moments too. That's what traveling life's winding road is all about after all.
